Strong Earthquake hits Ecuador 2016

Earthquake with 7.8-magnitude hits Ecuador:


Ecuador Earthquake 2016: A strong earthquake with 7.8 magnitude struck off the coast of Ecuador on Saturday with high waves along the coasts of the Ecuador, Colombia and Peru.


Ecuador government officials declared emergency after the Latest Ecuador Earthquake on Sunday after the magnitude-7.8 earthquake hits at before 7 p.m. (8 p.m. ET) Saturday.


Emergency was declared with in six states (Esmeraldas, Los Rios, Manabi, Santa Elena, Guayas and Santo Domingo) after Latest Ecuador Earthquake Today and told residents to leave coastal areas as tsunami waves reaching up to the stream level are possible to hit some parts of Ecuador.


The Parts of Quito – the capital of Ecuador were without power as the Ecuador Latest Earthquake was centered at a depth of six miles – 107 miles west northwest of Quito.


The officials said the Latest Ecuador Earthquake has caused destruction at the epicentre and other places as the country’s largest city, Guayaquil.


The epicentre of the quake was at most populated area, which increased the death number to 233 people, with hundreds more injured in the worst quake to strike the country in 40 years.


The President Rafael Correa told the towns of Manta and Pedernales the worst affected after the Ecuador Earthquake Today. More than 2,400 people were injured and least 350 buildings were destroyed, and 141 more buildings and 24 schools were affected.


Vice President Jorge Glas said that military troops and police officers were dispatched to the affected areas with Red Cross volunteers, also helping to provide first aid and search for uncounted number of missing people after this huge Ecuador Earthquake 2016.


Officials said camps had been set up across all the affected area; field hospitals were being established and delivering food packages and sleeping kits.
